Whilst we work with an exciting array of artists, here are a few introductions!

Artist Profile: Paul Karslake

Even before he won his first County Art Prize as a child, Paul was immersed into the Art World. Paul's father, Mike, was a renowned architectural model maker. After College, Paul joined his father in his business and assisted on many famous architectural projects such as the Grade 2 building Centre Point, the Thames Flood Barrier and working models for the Concorde pilot seat.

Whilst working in the USA, Paul worked for Los Angeles Art Studios, CBS Television and Disney. In the 90's, Paul was commissioned to produce a 650 ft long artwork hoarding for their South Quay site in London Docklands for which he was awarded The Evening Standard Environmental Award. In the same year Paul was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (F.R.S.A.) Under the guidance of Derek Johns, ex Director of Sotheby's, Paul decided to further strengthen his ties with the fine art market. In 1995 he undertook a commission for some very large still life paintings for the restaurant that became Gordon Ramsay's Petrus in London's St. James and has gone from strength to strenth ever since.

We're delighted to offer Paul's limited edition prints and Original works.

Artist Profile: Mark Davies

Always striving to create art with meaning and with genuine substance, Mark's work reflects his thoughts and emotions, those influenced by life experience and those that form his character. Originally educated in fine art, his career has since evolved into the digital world, mastering the use of colour, light and texture in his work.

Mark is the co-founder of a successful graphic design agency where his creativity is channelled to being best suited for business or product For his art, there is no brief, there are no restrictions or brand guidelines, it is an opportunity to truly express himself and stay true. "I enjoy creating a piece that on first glance looks fun but then if you look again you get the underlying sentiment or concept."

Mark's studio is within a converted brick barn within the Cambridgeshire countryside.

Artist Profile: Leigh Lambert

Leigh was born and raised in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, where he resided for the first twenty years of his life and began to draw as soon as he could hold a pencil, with his family quickly recognising his artistic flair.

The artist describes himself as mostly self taught, having received no formal art qualifications or training.Lambert relocated to Warwickshire with his family in 1996 where he focused on the development of his technique. It was on leaving Newcastle that he began to appreciate the nature of his upbringing; what he had once seen as a concrete jungle now seeming strangely beautiful. His pieces have a strong sense of nostalgia, evoking fond memories of a youth that many can relate to.

Lambert is an accomplished artist across a range of media, most commonly working in oils on board. His use of colour is minimal, optimistically applying splashes only to the figures that play amidst the otherwise monochromatic landscapes, capturing the joy and vitality of youth. Working from his garden studio, the artist has achieved great success in recent years.

Artist Profile: Gavin Dobson

Originally from the North East of England, British print maker Gavin Dobson graduated in Fine Art in 2000 and has been building his artistic profile and portfolio specialising in painting and screen printing - often combining the two, which helps communicate his chosen narrative which often includes how an environment can affect ones state of thinking and perception.

He is a true master at using both vivid colours and expressive strokes to create engaging and lively pieces. Gavin Dobson was one of just 20 artists chosen to exhibit at Somerset House as part of their Summer Screen Season with Film4. He has been profiled in The Times by art critic Nancy Durrant.

His screen-prints often depict colourful, nostalgic images. Iconic designs which are humorous ornamentation and invite an opening for conversation.

Artist Profile: Hamish Blakely

Whether it was drawing his favourite comic book superheroes or producing caricatures of his school teachers, Hamish Blakely’s natural facility with pencil paved the way for a future in painting from an early age.

While technique is obviously important in representative art, Blakely feels it is something that must not be over indulged. He believes a painting is more than an arrangement of polished rendering and that the life of it involves spontaneity and boldness.

Rembrandt had the most captivating quality, the ability to paint with breathtaking finesse, while creating a tactile graininess that could only have been achieved with layer upon layer of heavily applied pigment. The paintings are more than beautiful; they are weathered by the accumulation of work, re-working and the most intense commitment. It is this complexity that Blakely finds so alluring.

Artist Profile: Rourke van Dal

One of the most established names in urban art, born in 1969, Rourke Van Dal in his own words was "born with a wooden spoon in my gob on a council estate in Bradford". He has cemented his place on the Urban Art scene and takes inspiration from the streets on which he grew up.

The rundown warehouses and “concrete kingdom” of West Yorkshire were Van Dal's playground and his early work reflected this. In 2008 the artist collaborating with photographer Gavin Watson, Van Dal created a collection of iconic portraits based on the ‘The Wycombe Skins’ series.

This style would inform his work for the next two years, resulting in several sold out print editions and exhibitions in Europe and the United States. Over recent years, the artist has revisited his Pop roots with a series of portraits including depictions of Elvis Presley, Superman and Betty Boop.

Over the last 10 years, Van Dal has exhibited extensively in Europe and the USA and continues to produce his unique artwork from his studio in Yorkshire

Artist Profile: Pegasus

Pegasus is the name and signature of an anonymous North London street artist. Originally from Chicago, his stenciled pieces play with popular culture's most recognizable icons such as David and Victoria Beckham, The Queen, Marilyn Monroe, Blondie and Amy Winehouse and are sometimes ironic or controversial.

Pegasus is influenced by artists from the street as well as fine art world with his biggest influences coming from a certain Mr Banksy. “I also admire other artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Keith Haring, Mr. Brainwash, Richard Hamilton, Horace Panter and Eelus. In terms of my subjects, I paint people I admire and respect…deciding how I will portray them is the hard part.” added Pegasus.

Often cited in the international press as ‘the new Banksy’, Pegasus is extremely proud of the following he’s established in a relatively short period of time. He was recently contacted by Adele to create a unique commission after she saw his painting of friend, Alan Carr. He’s also created special unique commissions for Lindsey Lohan, Alexandra Burke and Kristina Rihanoff and counts Johnny Depp and Simon Cowell amongst his list of collectors who just want something that little bit different.

Pegasus and his incredible work have been featured in many international newspapers, TV channels and publications around the world. He’s been featured in the well-known graffiti books “Happy Graffiti” and “Planet Banksy” and three of his paintings featuring Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis and Lucille Ball have even found a home in the famous Hollywood Museum in Los Angeles.

We work very closely with the artist on commissions, exclusive and unique editions. Contact us for current availability or to discuss commissions.

Artist Profile: JJ Adams

The son of a baptist preacher, JJ emigrated as a child from Plymouth in the UK to Cape Town in South Africa in the early eighties. Adams spent much of his youth around the studio of South African contemporary landscape artist Derric van Rensburg, where he discovered his love of bright colour and graphic art exploring the world of tattoos as an apprentice at Wildfire Tattoos in Cape Town before coming back to the UK a number of years later..

Adams uses a range of mixed media in his work from spray paint to hand painting acrylics, screen printing, collage and digital matte painting as well as photography.

He admits being influenced at art school by artists like Norman Rockwell, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol and Sir Peter Blake and more obscure artists such as Guy Peelleart, Hipgnosis and Storm Thorgerson and lowbrow artists like Coop, Jim Phillips and Graham Coton who was a World War II comic book artist.
